The Wolf

Possibly the first play ever written, with one of history's most infamous dictator as protagonsit.

My name is Leo Brody, I am a fifteen year-old living in Raleigh, North Carolina. I am writing a play about the young life of Adolf Hitler, and his attempts at becoming an artist.
I am a Jew. I am well-read on the subject of the Holocaust, and Nazi Germany. I was taught most of what I know by an amazing woman, Gizella Abramson, who survived the death camp Majdanek. You may say, "it is unlikely that a Jew would take up the task of writing about such a man." But my messenge that I wish to send from this play isn't to not to take a sympathethic view towards Hitler. My messege is that people on that calliber are not sent by the Devil from Hell. A man like Hitler, who has so much hate boiled inside him, became the way he is for many reasons. It was a combination of nature and nurture. Now, please do not be misled. This play is not a pshychological examination of him, but more of a much needed lesson to be learned.
In our world today, as sad as it is, we are surrounded by hate and bigotry. We recognize this of course, but then again don't recognize it. The Holocaust almost seems unreal to some, like a graphic fiction novel by some diranged author. It is easy for us to view the Nazis as villains, and easier to view them as demons or monsters. When we view them in that manner, we get a false feeling of safety that people like that rarely come. That is not true. Adolf Hitler has another life. It is a life we rarely see. It is a life that does not take place behind the podium or even behind bars. No, this life, is the life of an ingenius, twisted, paranoid, and aggravated individual. The early years of his life can possibly teach us that hate will kill mankind faster than the "Apocalypse".
I have already begun my work. The play is halfway finished. My first step is directing it myself, at a 24 hour festival at a local community theatre. The festival is meant for one acts, the challenge is directing a one act in 24 hours. My challenge will be directing teens my age, and asking them to perform the roles of hated people. The Hitler family. This will take place in May, I have plenty of time to edit my work and take constructive critisism from any readers out there. If any are interested, I will post a sample of the play onto the blog.
I hope my beloved readers don't get the wrong messege. I'm not a Nazi. I just want to change the world though something no one would ever expect.
